Wow…first time with the bear and just….wow.

    5 Rds of 7 reps

    95-95-105-105-115

Clean to Front Squat to Push Press to Back Squat to Push Press

Felt like I had pulled my arms out of their sockets by the end of it. Will definitely do this one again.

OHS – 1-1-1-1-1 FSqu – 1-1-1-1-1 BSqu – 1-1-1-1-1 *Try to increase the weight with every rep. Total:  Started with 95# finished with 235# Spent about 15 minutes afterwards working my shoulders over with a wooden dowel. For the last 2 weeks they’ve felt like they were comprised mostly of rust and dirty rocks. After [...]

    Did the following yesterday:

    1 round of:

    250m Row

    30 jumping pullups

    250m Row

    30 jumping pullups

    250m Row

    Total 6:00

I spent a lot of time getting between the 2 stations.

On the upside, I was still bagged by the end of the workout.

Getting back on a more rigid CF regimen. I’ll be taking cues from CF Calgary, CF Quantum and CF Main. Used the opening of CFQ for inspiration on last night’s WOD of: 12 AMRAP 10 Burpees 10 Thrusters @ 75# Shocking what a energy suck the burpees were. Total was 6.5 rounds, although I’m sure [...]

  • mattleq commented on the blog post Paleo Breakfast… super boring.

I am cleared by my physio for pullups and squats (no load) and I’m going to try some slow and controlled pushups. This whole experience is going to hit the reset switch on my workout style…in the past I’ve sacrificed form in my rounds for a decent time. I may stop board watching for a [...]

With perfect squat form I am pain free, however stablization with motion (example pushups) are not my friend. I am thinking unweighted OHS, as I can work on form and they’ll strengthen my lower back.

A cry out to the CF Community.
I am going bonkers after being away from the gym for 2 weeks. I am looking for excercises to do that by-pass my lower back and remove the possibility of re-injury. I am looking for suggestions. Thus far, I am considering:
    1. Pullups
    2. Dips
    3. Unweighted OHSs
    4. Bench Press
    5. Bridges
    Any thoughts [...]

FORM FORM FORM…..sacrifice it and you’re not just cheating yourself out of a better workout, you’re risking your health. So it came to pass that 2 weeks ago, during a routine Tabata SE workout, I sacrificed form on an air squat and aggravated an old injury. Further diagnosis would come to call it a bulged [...]

Had a friend come with to CF Calgary today. On the ride up to the gym, he asked “why we didn’t just hit the gym and do this WOD there.”
    WOD
    5 Rounds of:
    30 DB Snatch 25#
    60 Double Unders
    2:00min Rest
    Total: 40:50 (including rest)
This was one of the hardest things I’ve done. I am new to the snatch, [...]

That’s really helpful, I clearly didn’t spend enough time warming up and it shows. I will hit this WOD again in a couple of weeks. Thanks.

First time I’ve done all these things in a row, so I wasn’t sure where to start.
    Squat – 203-225-245
    Shoulder Press – 135-145-155f
    Deadlift – 295 – 315 – 325
    Total – 715
Could’ve done a better deadlift and squat, but ran out of reps. Goal of 750 next time.
What are people’s warm-up scheme for this?

They only had Pink (Jerkass!)…I taped a Luc Robitaille hockey card to the outside of it to man it up.

Am the proud owner of a new pink PedEgg. Went to town on my hands and then washed the callous and shame off. Going to try some pullups tonight and see how this plays out.

This is exciting. Student becomes teacher. Best of luck on the opening, looking forward to trying the gym, when next I’m in town.

Thanks bud. I crashed half way through the row, and then it was pride powering the C2.
As for the hoody, I think that’s a compelling reason to come out to Calgary.
    1. See mountains – Check
    2. Drive a raised F350 Duelie to get milk at corner store – Check
    3. Acquire a CFCalgary Hoodie from [...]

    First the WOD:
    Alternating Tabata
    Ring Dips  - 46 total
    OHS Lunges w/ 45# – 69 total
    5min rest
    500 Meter Row – 1.30.7
Rolled out of the C2 and on to the ground for a long time.
I really missed the competitive nature and specific equipment of a CF gym. The bare bones gym style drives up my alpha male and makes [...]

That is a more practical way to go and will lead to better form for me. At the same time, it doesn’t allow for the same level of bragging rights. Ah well, soon enough.
